A striking pair of antique Victorian drop earrings adorned with four natural coral beads with burnt-orange colouring. The stones are held in ornate cannetille settings all fashioned in 18ct gold, including the hook wires at the top.
Coral is produced naturally in the depths of the ocean over thousands of years by tiny marine invertebrate known as polyp. It has long been worn as a protective talisman and exhibits fiery shades of pink, orange and red, making them a colourful alternative to other ocean treasures such as pearls.
The pair date to the late 19th Century and have remained in excellent condition. They’re very eye-catching and look fabulous dangling from each ear.
